You Get What You Pay For

“Price is what you pay,

Value is what you get.”

Don’t fall into the trap of misusing your workforce – to create a successful environment, there are several things to keep in mind.  Always try to use people’s time and talents wisely.  People are much more willing to give their all when they feel recognized and useful.  Use people’s time poorly, or fail to utilize their talents and potential, and they usually don’t put forth their full effort.

Time is unquestionably our most precious asset.  Since we clearly can’t increase how much we have, we must try to maximize it and be sure that we use it to its full potential.  Through careful use of the word “no,” we can defend our limited time from those who would abuse, misuse or even steal it.  As much as a business owner would like to believe otherwise, if your employees aren’t giving you their A-game, they may as well be stealing from your company.  To avoid this, there are a number of methods one can utilize.

As leaders, we can save countless hours of lost productivity by appreciating what our people are doing for us, and showing that appreciation.  Motivate your people by rewarding their efforts with tokens of appreciation, perhaps a monthly gift certificate for the highest performer, or buying lunch for the office from time to time.  Give your staff a reason to work efficiently and effectively, and the results will more than pay for these small perks.  Of course, there is no better motivator than money, so be certain to offer an appropriate compensation package.  Everybody knows that you get what you pay for.

Implementing these strategies will not only help you to avoid losing productivity and income, but will tremendously improve the vitality of your team.  If you work at it, you can create the type of environment that people look forward to every day of the week!
